I met him almost exactly one year ago, just before I started my current job, when I met my soon-to-be colleagues. He was (and still is) part of the team that I was about to join.
His name is Val.
He is from Bulgaria but studied in the UK, so he’s been in the country much longer than I have. But he’s still holding on to his “subtle” Bulgarian accent 😉 And his humor. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone laugh that much!
Val is a really nice guy. He’s about twice my height but I still tell him off at work. I kinda feel bad about it sometimes but he’s usually just laughing it off so it’s cool. He’s actually a very creative and talented mind and it’s a lot of fun bouncing around ideas about filming or editing techniques when we’re at work.
I took his portrait this week, just outside our office when we were filming a little piece for a new video and I made Val go back to his student experiences – on camera. That was fun!
This image is also a very good example for a technically imperfect photo that’s so much stronger than the ones I shot and are perfectly sharp. This happy expression is so very much Val. I don’t even care that it’s slightly out of focus.
